Luxembourg may be one of Europe’s smallest countries, but the Luxembourg Research Clinic demonstrates how its highly connected national network will soon deliver research and clinical capabilities comparable to those of much larger academic centres.

Although Luxembourg is one of Europe’s smallest countries, the Luxembourg Research Clinic (LRC) and its six partner institutions provide a clinical and research ecosystem comparable in scale to that of a mid-sized university city in a larger country like Germany or France.

By uniting the patient populations, research, infrastructure, and healthcare professionals of Luxembourg’s four major hospitals, the Centre Hospitalier de Luxembourg (CHL), Centre Hospitalier Emile Mayrisch (CHEM), Hôpitaux Robert Schuman (HRS), and Centre Hospitalier du Nord (CHdN), as well as researchers from the University of Luxembourg and the Luxembourg Institute of Health (LIH), the LRC offers a clinical and translational research to patients in Luxembourg that rivals the resources available in established academic centres elsewhere in Europe.

In addition, we are adding clinical trial teams and structures directly in the hospitals so that the latest innovations can also be offered in Luxembourg now.

Unlike before where researchers and clinicians had to build partnerships and processes for each new project, they can now access a sophisticated network and coordinated support from the outset. This brings clinical research to patients in Luxembourg who need it, enables larger, more ambitious studies, and strengthens Luxembourg’s reputation as a location for clinical research.
