Centre Hospitalier Emile Mayrisch (CHEM)

With nearly 2,000 staff members and more than 280 physicians, the CHEM provides care to 164,000 patients each year across a broad range of medical and surgical specialties. Its Esch-sur-Alzette site also hosts the Centre National de Radiothérapie François Baclesse and the Centre National d’Oxygénothérapie Hyperbare.

As an academic hospital since 2017, the CHEM actively supports biomedical and clinical research as part of its mission to improve patient care and contribute to medical progress. Through its Applied Research and Teaching Unit, the hospital coordinates clinical research projects, supports investigators throughout the study lifecycle, and ensures compliance with regulatory, administrative and financial requirements.

The CHEM collaborates with national and international partners, including the University of Luxembourg and its Luxembourg Centre for Systems Biomedicine, the Luxembourg Institute of Health and industry partners. Within the Luxembourg Research Clinic, the CHEM contributes its clinical expertise, patient care capacity and research commitment to strengthen Luxembourg’s national clinical and translational research ecosystem.
