Unlocking the potential of data science and A.I. in health care

Clinnova is an international research and healthcare innovation programme that aims to advance precision medicine through the use of high-quality health data and digital technologies. By bringing together healthcare providers, researchers, and technology experts, the programme seeks to improve patient care by helping clinicians make more informed and personalised treatment decisions. The programme comprises three cohort studies focusing on multiple sclerosis (MS), inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), and rheumatic diseases (RD). By combining clinical information, medical imaging, biological samples, patient-reported outcomes and digital health data, Clinnova uses data science and artificial intelligence (AI) to identify markers that can predict disease progression and treatment response. These insights will support clinicians in selecting the most appropriate treatment for each patient and monitoring their condition over time.

In Luxembourg, Clinnova has established a Prototype Data Integration Centre, successfully delivering a proof-of-concept for secure data integration with Hôpitaux Robert Schumann, enabling the connection of clinical and research data in a real-world hospital setting. Currently, Clinnova’s infrastructure and processes are being scaled nationally through their integration into the Luxembourg Research Clinic (LRC). At the same time, its data integration centre and clinical trial toolbox will contribute to the establishment of a secure, interoperable research data network connecting hospitals nationwide, all aligned with the upcoming implementation of the European Health Data Space (EHDS). Ultimately, Clinnova aims to contribute to a more personalised, preventive, and patient-centred healthcare system.
