Réseau de Compétences Maladies Neurodégénératives / Programme Dementia Prevention

The Programme Dementia Prevention (pdp) is a national initiative supporting people who are experiencing mild changes in their memory or thinking, such as Subjective Cognitive Decline (SCD) or Mild Cognitive Impairment (MCI). The programme is grounded in growing scientific evidence showing that certain (multi-domain) lifestyle changes and health interventions can help reduce or delay dementia risk. pdp helps participants better understand their cognitive health and lifestyle through comprehensive assessments and personalised recommendations, focusing on identifying and addressing modifiable risk factors for dementia, including high blood pressure, high cholesterol, physical inactivity, obesity, depression, social isolation, hearing loss, vision loss, smoking, and excessive alcohol consumption. Through a coordinated network of healthcare professionals and partner organisations across Luxembourg, participants receive individualised support that may include cognitive training, physical activity, nutritional advice, psychological support, and social engagement opportunities. Regular follow-up assessments help monitor cognitive health and guide ongoing preventive measures. As part of Luxembourg’s national dementia action plan, pdp also serves as a bridge between clinical care and research. By participating, individuals contribute to advancing scientific knowledge on dementia prevention while benefiting from evidence-based strategies designed to promote long-term brain health and well-being. pdp also promotes dementia prevention awareness through BrainCoach, a free application available in three languages. Anyone aged 18 or older can download BrainCoach from the App Store or Google Play, or access it via the web at http://pdp-app.lu.
